The wayfinding load nobody puts on the org chart
Three of the most common things real corporate teams say once we get specific:
Reception is a wayfinding desk
The job description says receptionist. The actual job is "translate the building reference on the calendar invite into the directions the visitor needs". Half the day, half the team.
The conference-room name nobody knows
"Meeting in Pine 4-A." Where is Pine? Which entrance? Visitors arrive ten minutes late because the building names mean nothing to anyone who doesn't work there.
The construction season nobody briefed
The path between two buildings has been closed for renovation since June. The campus PDF doesn't say. Hosts have to email visitors a workaround the day before each meeting.
What OuterMap does for HQ campuses
- Building finder & conference-room search.Search by building name, code, department, or room name. App routes from current location with walking time.
- Outdoor map + indoor floor plans.Upload the campus map plus floor plans per building. Visitors switch between outdoor and indoor; routing handles connectors and lifts.
- SSO-aware visibility (Enterprise).Public visitor view shows what visitors can see; SSO-authenticated employees see the fuller set. SAML and OIDC supported.
- Visitor parking, accessible parking.Specific parking zones tagged and surfaced. Wheelchair-accessible options as a filter.
- Real-time admin updates.Mark a path closed for construction, schedule a route closure for an event, add a temporary entrance — visible to visitors the next time they open the app.
- Branded under your company.iOS, Android and web apps ship with your colours, logo and company name. Deep-link from a calendar invite directly into the route.
- Multi-building, multi-site.One platform, many campuses. Different facilities teams can manage their own sites with role-based access.
- Accessibility filters.Step-free routes, accessible entrances, accessible restrooms, lifts. Important for ADA-conscious workplaces and ESG reporting.
What this is — and what it isn't
Setting expectations clearly so you can evaluate against your existing stack.
It is: wayfinding
Helping visitors and employees find specific buildings, rooms, parking and amenities. Everything we describe on this page falls under that scope.
It isn't: room booking
Conference-room availability and reservation stays in your existing booking system. We can deep-link to it; we don't replace it.
It isn't: badge or access control
Who has access to which space stays in your physical-security system. We can show whether a route is publicly accessible or staff-only; we don't issue or check credentials.
Common questions from facilities and IT
What is corporate campus wayfinding software?
Corporate campus wayfinding software is a branded navigation app for your company's multi-building HQ or business campus. It helps visitors, new hires and event attendees find specific buildings, conference rooms, visitor parking and amenities — replacing PDF maps and the front-desk "how do I get to…?" volume.
Can it integrate with our SSO (Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace)?
Yes. The Enterprise plan supports SAML and OIDC, so staff can sign in with their existing corporate credentials. SSO-aware features can show authorised employees a fuller route set than the public visitor view (e.g., internal-only entrances or restricted floors).
How does it handle visitor and employee views?
Public unauthenticated view: visitor entrances, conference rooms accessible to guests, visitor parking, amenities, accessible routes. SSO-authenticated employee view: optional fuller set including internal entrances, employee parking and any spaces tagged as staff-only. One app, two visibility tiers.
Does it support multi-building floor plans?
Yes. Upload the outdoor campus map plus a floor plan per building (and per level for taller buildings). Visitors switch between outdoor and indoor views; routing handles connectors, skybridges and elevator-aware paths between floors and buildings.
What about smart-building or HVAC integrations?
OuterMap focuses on wayfinding — the visitor-facing layer. We don't replace your building-management, HVAC or access-control systems. We can integrate via the public API on the Enterprise plan if your facilities team wants to surface specific data (e.g., room availability from a BMS) inside the app, but that integration is something we'd scope during onboarding rather than promise out of the box.
Stop emailing visitors PDF directions.
Free to start. Send us your campus map and we'll have a branded wayfinding prototype back to your facilities team within a working day.
