Trinidad Lake State Park
Overview
Trinidad Lake State Park is a scenic outdoor recreation destination nestled in southern Colorado's historic coal-mining region along the Purgatoire River. Centered around a sprawling 900-acre lake, the park offers a wide variety of activities including boating, paddleboarding, water sports, and fishing for trout, bass, and catfish. Visitors can explore miles of multi-use hiking and biking trails—such as the Carpios Ridge and Reilly Canyon trails—which provide gorgeous vistas of the surrounding mesas and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The park features modern campgrounds, picnic areas, a visitor center, and unique local geology, including visible layers of the historic K–Pg boundary.
